What's Wrong With This Picture?
If you guessed "metal thieves"you are unfortunately correct. This was installed in September. I haven't even had a chance to blog about it! This vandalism is getting depressing.
If you haven't walked by it yet, here is what you missed:
The stolen plaque was generously produced with his own funds & initiative by Tony Ortiz, who was formerly involved with El Centro Mexicano. From 1948 to 1975, El Centro was located at 6th & W where Tenrikyo Church stands now. It's a shame that the plaque has been stolen. If somehow funds are found to replace it, I hope the wording can be changed, though, to better explain the significance of the El Centro and its historic dedication plaque (still in place and visible in the picture).
